Join us at BLU Jazz+ as we feature our area's top high school & collegiate jazz programs in a special concert series! This showcase will include performances by the talented groups from Solon High School & Tri-C Jazz Studies!
The Solon High School Jazz ensemble (7PM) is a select group of musicians and the top jazz ensemble at the high school. They have performed at festivals throughout the state of Ohio as well various states across the country. This group has had the privilege of performing with world class artists such as Bobby Militello, Wayne Bergeron, Andy Martin, Eddie Daniels and was the opening band for the Count Basie Orchestra.
The Jazz Workshop (8:30PM) is the showcase ensemble of the renowned Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) jazz studies program. Legendary tenor saxophonist & educator, Ernie Krivda, directs and performs with this quintet, made up of the program’s most elite jazz students.
The group features Genaro Aiken (tenor sax),Andy Karkosiak (guitar), Patrick McCaferty (bass), Akin Hobson & Matt Zanin (drums) and will play a swingin’ repertoire of standards and originals!
Join us as we continue our 4th annual BLU Jazz+ Student All-Stars Concert Series by featuring Solon High School & the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Jazz Workshop! Half the proceeds from this event go back into these jazz programs, so bring your friends and family to support these awesome student groups!

Committed to the preservation of America's treasured art form of jazz, BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation (BJMF) is a new program developed by the founders of BLU Jazz+ Akron (BJA) that brings "front-row" jazz education performance & mentorship opportunities to student musicians and art lovers alike by presenting a series of masterclasses led by top visiting musicians from all over the world.
Recipient of a 2015 Knights Art Challenge grant award by the Knight Foundation, BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation expands upon the essence of Akron, Ohio's award-winning live jazz destination, BLU Jazz+ Akron (BJA), launched in Fall 2014.
