ABOUT ABOUT

Critically-acclaimed New York City drummer and recording artist brings his post-modern, straight-ahead jazz group steeped in the hard bop tradition in BLU debut! Featuring Chris Massey, Chris Coles, Theron Brown, Dan Pappalardo.

Upon moving to New York City in 2005, Chris is a jazz artist who is becoming a wildly talked about new breed of talented player in the world of jazz. Drummer, composer and bandleader Massey produces a fire and forward momentum in his playing that is becoming a fresh sound in the scene today. Having performed in various festivals throughout the world (many of the top venues in the U.S.), Massey has performed with acclaimed individuals such as Dave Holland, Joe Lovano, Linda Oh, Sean Jones, Donald Harrison Jr. and others. He is bringing a sharp fresh sound steeped in tradition to fans across the globe.

The Nue Jazz Project Formed in 2005, with musicians from various parts of the world with varying styles of play. The NJP was created in the spirit of hard-bop ensembles such as the Jazz Messengers, and Modern Jazz Quartet fused with modern inflection to create a new(nue) generation of post-bop music. The ensemble has performed in many world class venues such as: The Iridium, Blue Note, Smalls, Birdland, Village Vanguard, Smoke, and many others, gaining international recognition from major publications in Japan, Italy, France, and Germany.

Acclaimed by both JazzTimes and Downbeat Magazines, the NJP is an ensemble that brings a fresh sound to a very deep rooted music that resonates with the listener.
