ABOUT ABOUT

A double-dose of great music, Akron's-own "Pardi-Gras" flavored band infuses Zydeco music with Americana, Cajun, reggae, funk & more in their return appearance to BLU for "Double Feature Friday!"

Come celebrate the sounds of New Orleans (the birthplace of jazz) at BLU!

Mo’ Mojo is a hard driving, high energy, “Pardi-Gras” Band. The female fronted group features three-part harmonies, accordion, fiddle, guitar, rubboard, sax, trumpet, harp, bass, percussion, and drums. Songs are sung in English and French. The band takes Zydeco music and infuses it with Americana, Cajun, reggae, rock & roll, funk, R&B, and African and Latin rhythms.

Mo’ Mojo tours nationally and internationally, performing at festivals, dances, and venues in the Midwest, the East Coast, and the Carribean, and soon will bring Zydeco to Central America as musical ambassadors with the U.S. State Department. They have 3 CDs out with another recorded and due in early 2015.

Featuring Jen Maurer (vocals, accordions, guitar), Leigh Ann Wise (vocals, rubboard, percussion, guitar, trumpet), Anthony Papaleo (vocals, fiddle, guitar), Darren Thompson (bass), Will Douglas (drums), and guest Sam Rettman (harp & sax).
