ABOUT ABOUT

After touring the world playing his brand of funky blues & jazz, New York City guitarist sensation brings his latest musical chapter as singer songwriter to the BLU stage!

Long Island, NY singer/songwriter and guitarist Matt Marshak continues to walk the ‘Road Less Traveled’ in his musical journey. With his early days as a rock/pop sideman on NYC’s Bleeker Street, to an international solo career in the funk/jazz world, diversity has been Matt’s calling since day one.

In 2018, Matt continues his quest to expand his musical horizons and perhaps do what has never been done before–making a transition from jazz to singer songwriter, country, and roots music! Matt is busy in the studio recording his most exciting and honest release to date–tentatively titled “Simple Man.” So far, Matt has been joined by Nashville powerhouse writing team “Between The Lines,” which features Cara Hogan and Steve Dean (Rodney Atkins, Reba McEntire, Alabama, George Strait). On a cold Winter weekend they wrote 8 undeniable country/crossover tunes on the east end of Long Island in Matt’s studio.

The upcoming 2018 release “Simple Man” will feature the uplifting and hopeful crossover pop/country tune “One in a Million (still got a chance).” This groovin’ track features Nashville’s Andy Ellison (John Pardi) on pedal steel, Long Island musicians Pat Falco on bass, Jon Preddice on background vocals, and Matt’s brother Chris Marshak on drums. This tune is currently being mixed by grammy award winning producer and mix engineer Billy Hume in Atlanta. “Way Down” bridges the sounds of country and funk and has been mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Ben Wisch (Marc Cohn). “Prayer for You” is an emotional tune bringing a heartfelt sense of hope to those who have lost their way in our world. “Tell Me Something Good” is the song we all want to hear–with the never ending news headlines of everything that’s wrong with our world, this uplifting song brings a sense of hope and reassurance that there is still some good in this world. There is also the title track “Simple Man” which crosses into multiple genres with some self reflection from Matt. This catchy tune features Maryland’s Benjie Porecki on keys and Atlanta’s Sean Michael Ray on bass. Texas country music drummer Christian Dorn is also featured on the track.

Join us at BLU as we welcome this internationally-travelled rock, blues, and jazz guitarist as he embarks on his latest musical journey as a singer songwriter!
