ABOUT ABOUT

Mentored by the likes of local jazz heroes Dominick Farinacci & Theron Brown, join us as this 13-year-old singer/songwriter wunderkind brings her inspired blend of jazz & blues to center stage at BLU as part of our new Local Artist Spotlight series!

Ava Preston is a singer/songwriter based in a suburb of Cleveland. At the young age of 13, Ava is already an accomplished musician. She has established a substantial following across Northeast Ohio, performing at Blu Jazz+, Nighttown, The Bop Stop, Jilly’s, Porch Rokr, and The Beachland Ballroom, to name a few. Ava has also performed several times in Nashville, including The Country, The Commodore, Coco Café and the infamous Bluebird Café. Ava enjoys singing a variety of genres including jazz, pop, Broadway and her original indie songs.

Professional musicians often describe Ava as an “old soul”, and is frequently asked if she has been here before. Ava’s voice has been compared to the likes of Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae.

Ava takes her inspiration from strong female singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sara Bareilles, and Alanis Morrissette. Her music and lyrics are wise beyond her years, with layers of melancholy emotions through life’s struggles with the innocence of hope, relatable across generations. Ava is also a talented actress and artist and when she is not singing, she can be found acting in plays and musicals or drawing and creating artwork

We are delighted to welcome Ava in her very first headlining appearance at BLU Jazz+ as part of our new Local Artist Spotlight series, happening every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month! Come enjoy the beautiful music of this rising star vocalist & her band – get your tickets today!
