Robert Fraser is a jazz legend among Cleveland area guitarists. His resume boasts a wide array of performance highlights, including playing on Maureen McGovern’s “The Morning After,” and performing with The Cleveland Orchestra under Pierre Boulez and Christoph Von Dohnány.
During his long and distinguished career, he has supported musical greats as Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Schneider, Dan Wall, Pat Pace, Bill Dobbins, Grover Washington, Jack Schantz, Teddy Pantelas, Ken Peplowski, Ernie Krivda, Chip Stephens, Jeff Halsey, Jim Rupp, Jiggs Whigham and the great Marian McPartland.
Mr. Fraser often performs with The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and is an active theater orchestra musician having performed at the State, Palace, Hanna and Cleveland Playhouse Theaters.
Additionally, he has played on numerous radio and television ads, and contributed to Jim Kalal’s “Yuletide Gathering” through Mel Bay Publications. Mr. Fraser has a B.S.E.E. degree from the Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University).
Fraser has performed with Howie Smith in his TCJF Soundworks series, and was honored with Tri-C “Jazz Legend Award in 2011.
Teddy Pantelas is an outstanding contemporary jazz guitarist and composer who has made a major contribution to the art of jazz in Northeast Ohio.
A self taught guitarist who has been playing since the age of 6, Teddy has been on the faculty of the Allegheny Music Festival and Montessori School System. For 5 years he was Musician in Residence at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio and Northside Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, bringing the healing art of music to patients and their families. Pantelas is an accomplished composer, and his original music sets him apart from any other contemporary jazz guitarist.
Teddy has performed extensively throughout the greater Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania areas with artists such as Jack McDuff, Snooky Young, Vanessa Rubin, Jeri Brown, Steve Wilson, Jim Walker, Jimmy Ponder, Greg Bandy, Eddie Baccus, Sean Jones, Jamey Haddad, John Fedshock, Bob Fraser, Phil Keaggy, In Time, and Kenny Blake.
He has recorded CDs with many artists including the albums: Glass Harp: “Strings Attached;” Damian Knapp: “Will You Cry When I Die;” and Jim Jeffrey:”So Cold.” He has also recorded on albums with drummer Darrell Alexander and vocalist Siri Pursey. Teddy was featured artist on the CD “Absent Dreamers” by Youngstown Jazz Collective, one of the ensembles of Youngstown State University.
Teddy’s own CDs on Tatsou Records feature his original music and the Teddy Pantelas Trio: “Teddy Pantelas Trio,” with bassist Jeff Grubbs and drummer Olivia Sci; “It Makes Me Glad,” with bassist Jeff Grubbs, drummer Darryl Pelligrini, and special guest, Sean Jones, on trumpet; and “Together Again,” the trio with Michael Grappo, another outstanding guitarist with a unique sound and voice, featuring standards inspired by the heroes of jazz.
