ABOUT ABOUT

Join us at BLU Jazz+ as we pay special tribute to acclaimed jazz saxophonist 20th century music icon, John Coltrane, with a special live concert event! Featuring Bobby Selvaggio, Theron Brown, Aidan Plank, Zaire Darden.

Acclaimed American saxophonist, bandleader & composer, John Coltrane, became an iconic figure of 20th-century jazz with his historic albums such as ‘Giant Steps,’ ‘My Favorite Things’ and ‘A Love Supreme.’

Born on September 23, 1926, in Hamlet, North Carolina, Coltrane developed his craft as a saxophonist and composer during the 1940s and ’50s, working with famed musicians/bandleaders Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington and Miles Davis.

Coltrane turned the jazz world on its head with technically marvelous, innovative playing that was thrillingly dense and fluid in its understanding of the genre.

On the evening of what would have been his 90th birthday, join us at BLU Jazz+ as some of our favorite local musicians pay tribute to John Coltrane’s artistry in a special live concert event. Don’t miss it – get your tickets today!
