Boasting a fresh mix of popular song, jazz standards, & original compositions, soulful world-traveled songstress returns to the States with her dynamic vocal skill & thrilling improvisation in tow for BLU debut!

A songstress of incredible emotional depth, Laura continues to dazzle audiences with her incredible vocal range, rich colorful timbres, and deeply personal original compositions. Her unique performances and heartfelt lyricism open a doorway into her heart for all to enter elevating her as one of the most genuine emerging artists in Jazz today.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Laura became aware of her calling as musician at the early age of three while giving her parents exclusive performances on the fireplace (stage) of their house. Growing up, Laura threw herself into musical endeavors studying violin, guitar, drum set, and auxiliary percussion as well as singing with various local choirs. Throughout her years in Columbus Laura has performed at the top venues in the city, on many occasions with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Upon receiving a scholarship Laura moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the Berklee College of Music from which she is now an alumnus.

In her professional career, Laura has been privileged to share the stage with an extraordinary array of musicians such as Kurt Elling, Ellis Marsalis, Meredith Monk, Sheila E., Esperanza Spalding, Riannon, and Bryan Baker. Such past performances include The Montreux Jazz Festival, where Laura was awarded second place in the 2007 vocal competition, The Beantown Jazz Festival, The Boston Pops Jazz Festival, and The International Association of Jazz Educators Convention. In addition to live performances, Laura has been interviewed as a featured artist on Boston’s 89.7 WGBH National Public Radio. This year Laura was chosen for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Arts In Residence Program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. While focusing on performance, Laura has also become a deeply committed educator, dedicating her life to the preservation and promotion of American Jazz and its history to future generations.

Laura Brunner currently resides in the New York City area where she is working on her debut album set to be recorded later this year. Between international engagements, Laura can be seen performing in the Midwest, New England, and New York City areas.
