Be part of an unforgettable evening in Akron’s Historic Arts District as we celebrate the highly-anticipated arrival of acclaimed actor/director Don Cheadle’s film “Miles Ahead,” which follows the journey of iconic trumpeter Miles Davis (played by Cheadle) as he bursts out of his silent period and forms a musical comeback.
Accompanying Cheadle (and the likes of Ewan McGregor, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Keith Stanfield & Michael Stuhlbarg) on the big screen is none-other than Akron’s own, jazz pianist & fan favorite, Theron Brown, in the role of the legendary pianist & keyboardist, Herbie Hancock!
To mark this exciting occasion, BLU Jazz+ is teaming up with our friends at The Nightlight Cinema for a very special evening of film & live music, complete with a VIP Screening of the “Miles Ahead” film beginning at 6:45PM at The Nightlight, immediately followed by a “Miles Ahead” Afterparty Concert featuring Theron Brown and an all-star quartet: Chris Coles (tenor sax), Dan Pappalardo (bass), Zaire Darden (drums), and special guest – Akron-native, trumpeter Jon Lampley (of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” & Huntertones)!
